Welcome to Pre-Fit's Stair System section. The purpose of this section is show the various designs for the Balusters, Newel posts and Handrail that are available to you when you are in the design stage. The information here is limited to the standard designs offered by L.J. Smith Stair system. When considering a Stair system you need to choose either a Post to Post design or an Over the Post design.

Once you have determined the style of Post to Post or Over the Post, you will notice the Balusters and Handrail will be offered in either 1 ¼" or 1 ¾". It is important to stay with either the 1 ¼" or the 1 ¾" system when choosing the Balusters, Newel Post and the Handrail. The final decision you will have to make is the finish look of the stair system. There are three wood options available, Poplar for Painting, Beech and Oak for staining. Pre-Fit Door, as a service to our customers will review your application and work with you to selection the balance of the parts required completing the look and design you want.
